If someone else does the work then I see no reason why it can't go in.

I'd like to see a basic image hosting facility in OG. This would mean
that we could have full control over resizing, and keep copies of the
originals for possible print distribution. I am offering photo hosting
for the Oxford Guide at the moment, described at
<http://www.ox.compsoc.net/oxfordguide/?Photo_Policy> which is currently
completely manual (well, I have a tiny script which resizes the photos
and spits out some template HTML).
That said, it's probably not top of the list of my priorities for
openguides, and even if it were -- well, I'm not managing to do much
with OG at the moment anyway :)
