Do people think that a development system would be generally useful to keep around - ie are there people who would be more inclined to hack on OpenGuides if they had login access to a system which could run it without too much hassle?
I think it is useful for a number of reasons - OG needs quite a tranche of modules. This puts off people like myself who have an allergy to installing modules (**)
- sometimes you might have work in progress you want to share with another developer. Being able to say "have a look at /home/andrew/blah/blah and see if you can see......" is easier than having to email or whatever your half fished changes.
- it might be useful to have a development set up with some realistic data from which you can clone your own set up.
** I have failed to install Perl modules too many times in past.
