I've just had a thought about all this DNS stuff. Apart from us
technical types, most people don't care. Despite having incredibly easy
domain names, most people still use their search engine to find sites,
even on return visits.
People have got used to search engines being very very good, so they've
stopped relying on memory.

There's even an argument that sites which aren't of the form www.foo.bar
are hard for non-geeks to remember. The site map on www.openguides.org
is a good idea (and I think that hex may need to get over his hatred for
www. prefixes for websites for the greater good).
One thought I had was of, say, http://www.openguides.org/manchester/
redirecting to http://manchester.openguides.org/ - that way the first
URL is very clearly "part" of the OpenGuides network, but can still be
hosted on its own machine etc.
