Hiya, FWIW, I think those guides where the navbar is included on the front page (and not tucked away in a banner bar thing) are more prone to looking cluttered than those where it isn't. Out of interest, would it be hard to make it "N most recently modified nodes", with N as a config option (and 5 or 10 as a sane default)? I reckon the number that looks best will depend on the layout of a given site's front page, and the number of changes worth showing will depend (a bit, at least) on how frequently that site is updated.
