In the absence of a redesign of openguides.org (I just haven't found the time, don't know if anyone else has?) I offer the following suggestion for fitting the Randomness Guide into the list of links: http://the.earth.li/~kake/cgi-bin/tmp/ogsite2/page
It's not perfect by any means, but it's good enough, I reckon. Any objections to me committing this to svn and asking Earle to update the site?

Sorry, I'm not really happy with it. The design as it stands only lists the cities associated with a guide, not the guide's full title, and I don't think this looks right.

Well, it was by analogy with the Tourist Engineer. How about this one: http://the.earth.li/~kake/cgi-bin/tmp/ogsite3/page

So, any objections to this, from anyone?

My only objection is I have no idea why Randomness exists as separate from the main one. Something on the front page describing why it's different would be nice.

(Am assuming this isn't actually an objection to RGL being linked from openguides.org, but more of a question that popped into your head when you read this thread.)
I've tweaked the wording on the front page a bit to emphasize that we're mostly interested in pubs and restaurants (those being the things that the current regular contributors are interested in) - does that help?
Basically, as I see it, the difference is that while OGL is intended to be a fully comprehensive guide to London, accessible to tourists and residents alike, RGL is much more focused on being of use mainly to its core contributors. So we don't have articles on things that London residents will already know all about; and the addon search scripts that I write are aimed at people who know roughly what they're after.
Our current main contributors are into real ale and cider, restaurants, Tube and rail stations, and craft shops. If this changes, the focus will change, but I'm wary of expanding the focus too much unless I know there are reliable people who'll keep their "sections" up to date.
Earle might be able to add to this comparison - I've not spoken to him recently about his current goals for OGL.

Yeah. Just that I think perhaps there needs to be a clear differentiator, not necessarily on the OG site but on the pages that it links to at least.

Ahhh, things I miss about London (though not the tube)...

We have this on "Websites About London", which is linked from the front page:
General
* [The Open Guide to London] - another guide to London running on the same software as RGL, but with a broader remit.
I don't think OGL links to us though.

Due to the lack of objections, I've committed this to svn. Earle, could you do the honours please?

Sorry for the delay - yes, that's fine. Done.
