Hi Ivor, Thanks for the comments. I am working on a few things at the moment. a.. Small mini-map to allow rapid location within the main one. User to move box around mini map and main map moves in same way b.. Search tool allowing user to enter either location, or location type to see all locations of that type (e.g.museum). Select the name in the search box and map moves to location and image comes up. c.. Adding some logical icons to the map for location types. Will let you know when these come online. I will be adding a reciprocal link to you as well, will show in a week or so after next site update. As for links from images to the location site - this can be done, but there is a cost factor - this is where I earn my bread! If you can persuade anyone to take this up I'll be very happy!
Peter.

Here is a suggestion for informaion on London. I hope you enjoy browsing it for yourselves. Any feedaback about the map apppreciated. If you do decide to include it within the openguides, please contact me and on our next update I'll add a reciprocal link
I have added a link to the page "Sites About London" http://london.openguides.org/index.cgi?Sites_About_London
The London Map (http://www.the-london-map.co.uk) An interactive map of London with over 100 panoramic photographs of historic sites, parks and buildings. A virtual tour and sightseeing guide of many locations in London. This is free to use and can be run embedded in any site, a great way to explore the city.
Great! we like content that is free :).
Please take a look as see if you may like to either use the Tour or link to it as a resource about London. See The London Map website for the html needed to use the tour, and examples of embedded tours. For further information or to discuss layout options please contact me.
What would be really nice is to be able to hook into individual attractions. Currently, the applet can navigate to attractions only via a search entered by the user.
What we want to be able to do is to pass in something like "Natural History Museum" as a parameter, and the applet loads the appropriate view.
Another function we would like to be able to do is to pass in X and Y coordinates, either OS Grid or Lat/Long, and for the applet to show us the map with the arrow in the right place.
That said, we have been looking at SVG, which has a number of facilities:
- Continuous zoom
- Ability to superimpose graphics by layering
- Clickable hyperlinks on the map
