.htaccess ban. I've reported this to the abuse address in WHOIS (at Virginia
Polytechnic).

I don't think the indexes have been rebuild following the recovery.
In some ways, this is a Good Thing (TM) as we can track what has been lost and needs to be redone - big renames incuded.
The index could be rebuilt, but it would be a good idea if the old copy is cached somewhere and available to those who want it. I certainly would miss it if it went.
My £0.02
Ivor.
I have noticed that sometimes you get pages coming up in a search that a
now only redirects.
Eg if you search on "mistake" you get
# Easily Made Mistakes
# New To London/Easily Made Mistakes
The second page is only a redirect to the first, so it confuses (IMHO)
the search results for it to be displayed.
Is there any way of suppressing it from the search results.

This person has a wierd sense of humour, and his interjections are degrading the quality of our writeups.
I've left the edits there so that others on the list can see and judge.
