I am wondering about putting a scathing review onto OGL. I think firstly I will ask the manager for clarification and ask that if he wishes to retain me as a customer - it is rather nice there - they should be a little more flexible.
I would rather avoid putting a bad review onto OGL, rather get the management to correct. Anyone got any thoughts as to presentation of the following ------------------------------- Matthew and I were in Ray's cafe (Foyles Charring X road) eating, drinking coffee and I was checking my mail. The minion asked me to move to one of the side benches - you are meant to use them if you use a laptop. I interpreted the spirit of the rule to be that people by themselves or that stay for ages should not occupy a table to the exclusion of other customers.
I asked whether it would be OK if I shut the lt and stayed a few mins - yes. When he had gone I opened the laptop. started to save my work and shutdown. He came back and harassed me (which stopped me from saving my work!) and threating to call security.....
I feel your assistant was applying the rule in a rather inflexible way - there was a free table next to us. I feel inclined to avoid returning to the cafe. If you feel pleased to loose a customer fine, but I would suggest an apology would be more helpful. Maybe the rule could be revise to say "if we are busy and other customers need the table ..."
(ok this started as a rant to the mailing list - turned into a draft letter to the manager. s/minion/assistant/ and /Matthew/A friend/)
