Up until now we've been using streetmap.co.uk as our 'provider of mapping solutions' (to sound all corporate for a second). However, I no longer care for Streetmap after discovering the awesome power of uk.maps.yahoo.com:
http://uk.maps.yahoo.com/py/lg:uk/lc:uk/maps.py?addr=114+campden+hill+road&a...
versus
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=525117&y=180161&z=0&sv=w...
Note the greater detail, including door numbers and street directions, and generally much better clarity (try zooming in to maximum on Yahoo! and compare it to the above, which is already at maximum zoom).
I suggest that we prefer Yahoo! Maps for linking to.

Ooh. Shiny.
Concerns:
I'm already blocking yimg.com because of banner ads. This makes the navigation bar not be visible.
Doesn't look as good at high res as Streetmap's coloured A-Z-style pages even if it does contain more detail.
Can it accept and/or convert coordinates?
If it _can_ be persuaded to take coordinates, why not link to both? (Or link to both _anyway_?)

Another one: it's consistently got the wrong side of the road on every address I've tried it on so far. Even though it has a house number and displays those correctly. Even though in at least one case the post-code only applies to one side of the road.

The map link field currently only takes one URL - if we want multiple ones then it needs to be submitted to CPAN RT for OpenGuides.

but then again the maps look funny ( i do prefer the a-z style of streetmap) and misses one thing which streetmap does have. http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=525117&y=180161&z=2 admiitedly this is a feature no longer presented as a choice. :)

hey who am i to argue :)
