I'm running Usemod for Project Galactic Guide (for historical reasons)
and the level of Wiki spam has increased dramatically there too.
Is it worth coming up with a system for sharing a blacklist of
spammers IP addresses or should we all just trawl through the logs
manually (or use the UI?)
Presumably the easiest way of doing this from an admin point of view
might be to have a "superuser" function on the site so that you can
add the IP address of a spammer directly into the blacklist. (However
you mustn't make that public of course else people would blacklist
real users).
Movable Type people use something called MT-Blacklist which has a
shared blacklist, it's successful if only for the simplicity of
removing spam.
