Hi
I'm planning/working on setting up a Chicago-OG, this weekend I will try to
start on getting the server side working and hopefully next month (at most)
it will be time to coax my friends to start contributing. Any advice before
I start a grand weekend drinking beer and cpanning OG?
While going through the mailing list archive I noticed that there was
mention of working on a "HowTo setup your very own OG for Timbuktu" but
nothing has been done (?) I'd like to help with that, will jot down my
thoughts and post to the list as I go along with the setup but don't hold
your collective breaths : )
Cheers

hello everyone,
i would like to propose another entry for an openguide submission:
"public transport"
it's nice to know how to get to this intersting entry, isn't it?
i know entry could/should be linked to map, but when i see there
"central line: Marble Arch" even as foreigner and tourist
that helps to quickly locate the entry. :)

I'm aware of the oddness with library search paths on the test wiki.
However that's not where I'm running into the problem. Most of the diffs
you try on http://www.ox.compsoc.net/oxfordguide/ seem to fail eg:
<http://www.ox.compsoc.net/oxfordguide/?id=Sand_Box&version=6&diffversion=8>
This is with OG 0.31 and C::W::P::D 0.06. I'll submit a bug once I've
done a bit more digging.
Cheers,
Dominic.
Hi,
The Oxford guide is having problems with some clients mangling the é (in
this particular case) in Category links:
<http://www.ox.compsoc.net/oxfordguide/>
This is a particular problem because of course a GET request on
Categories will auto-create the category. The culprit appears, in the
most recent case, to be this:
msnbot64124.search.msn.com - - [24/May/2004:10:00:57 +0100] "GET /oxfordguide/?id=Category%20Caf%C3%83%C6%92%C3%86%E2%80%99f%C3%83%C6%92%C3%A2%E2%82%AC%C5%A1%C3%83%E2%80%9A%C3%82%C2%A9s;format=rdf HTTP/1.0" 200 1506 "-" "msnbot/0.11 (+http://search.msn.com/msnbot.htm)"
I haven't looked closely into which of the bot and us are at fault yet,
but has anyone else seen this problem? This needs fixing in two ways:
- the site should not create categories on the basis of a GET request
(RFC 2616 sec 9.1.1), therefore categories need to be created at the
time that they are entered into a node, rather than on first access.
- it would be nice to locate the source of this charset confusion, but
if the above is fixed this is a secondary consideration (it may turn
out that the problem is entirely brokenness on the client side in
which case it can be safely ignored)
Cheers,
Dominic.

I always had trouble getting my test wiki on un to respect PERL5LIB
for some wierd reason.
Anyway, you need CGI::Wiki::Plugin::Diff 0.06 and OpenGuides 0.31.
Hopefully your diffing problem will go away.

You want to be using private libraries for your dev work anyhow.

Ho hum... The test guide is showing version 0.30. This uses OpenGuides::Diff
which is obsoleted and replaced by CGI::Wiki::Plugin::Diff, which has the diffing
problems sorted AFAIK.
I think we may need to get un's admin to upgrade to the latest version of
this module if you are not already on it.
Any issues you find with C::W::P::D, please submit an RT ticket.
Ta,
Ivor.
