It's like a link, only automatic. So J Random Blogger links to Node X in
his blog entry, and his blog software does some magic, and the OpenGuide
is informed that there's a link to Node X from Entry Y. It's often used
for the "last 5 pages linking to this page" type stuff, and is a useful
way (modulo spam) of improving linkiness.
