On a similar note, can anyone recommend a GPS which will talk to OSX
over wifi, bluetooth or usb and give me access to the raw NMEA
datastream through a standard character device as well as having
nifty OS X apps bundled with it?

A GPS that talks wifi would be especially nifty as I wouldn't need any
cables or a bluetooth dongle.
